Nash

Date

February 2025

When we first met Nash, his name was “Spot,” and he was living at a body shop. He technically had an owner, but it was clear he was being neglected—left outside in the heat with worsening skin, no reliable food, and no medical care. My fiancé and I couldn’t walk away. We started stopping by every morning and evening, feeding him on our way to and from school.

Over time, his skin condition deteriorated: bright red erythema and patches of alopecia began to cover his body. I contacted the GSPCA and worked with the owner to at least allow him to be neutered. When Nash was finally brought into the shelter, he had over 200 ticks, tested heartworm positive, had a persistent cough, and was found to be cryptorchid. Despite it all, he remained gentle, trusting, and full of heart.

A dear friend of mine stepped in to foster him and give him the much-needed TLC he had always deserved. What started as “just fostering” turned into something much more. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. After some tough but respectful conversations with his previous owner, Nash was officially surrendered—and adopted.

Now, Nash is living his best life with his forever family. He completed heartworm treatment, got neutered, and finally knows what it feels like to be safe and loved. He shares his home with Hudson, another island dog, and together they are spoiled, adored, and inseparable.

Two island pups. One incredible home. And a second chance that changed everything.
