Sally (aka Millie)

Date

November 2025

Millie was originally named Sally at the Grenada SPCA, but once she came into my care, the name Millie just stuck—and it suited her perfectly.

Millie was found tied to an abandoned house, restrained with a chain and electrical wire wrapped around her neck. She had been left there without proper care, and the wire had caused cuts and sores along her neck. I was part of an outreach trip around the island when we found her, and she was immediately brought in so she could receive help.

Millie was vaccinated and treated right away, and once she was medically stable, she came into foster care so she could get something she had clearly been missing for a long time—human connection. Before she could fly to the United States for adoption, she needed time to heal, decompress, and learn what it meant to be safe.

She received wound care for her neck injuries, a much-needed bath, and consistent attention as her journey back to health began. And almost immediately, Millie showed us exactly who she was.

She had a huge personality and an endless amount of energy. She was joyful, affectionate, and full of life—proof that despite everything she had been through, her spirit was completely intact. Millie thrived in foster care and quickly became such a bright presence during my Term 5 at St. George’s University.

Millie was eventually flown to the United States by another veterinary student and adopted in the tri-state area, where she is now living a life filled with love, activity, and everything she always deserved.
